Raised near Salt Lake City in Sandy, UT, Nate was an Eagle Scout and involved in his local church. He graduated as the Senior Class President of Brighton High School before attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. Friends and family remembered him as a devoted friend who lived his life to the fullest. He backpacked through Europe, ran with the bulls in Spain; he was their “biggest cheerleader” and their “biggest hero.”
At West Point, Nate was a superb scholar, was an early member of the crew and pistol teams, and ultimately dedicated his time to the grueling Sandhurst competition. His welcoming smile connected him to all his friends and classmates.
Nate earned his degree in Aerospace Engineering and branched into the Infantry following graduation. He conducted training at Ft. Benning, GA and initially served at Camp Casey, Korea before being assigned to Baumholder, Germany where he was immediately deployed to Iraq with the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Nate died in Baghdad, Iraq during the deployment. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Dalley; his sisters, Alicia Schroeder, and Catherine Dalley; and his brother, Aaron Dalley.
